The droguier

Bernardin Duranc, an apothecary from Montpellier, had the idea of setting up a Droguier as early as 1588, to demonstrate drug preparations to "medical students".

More or less forgotten, the Droguier was reborn with the creation of the École de Pharmacie in 1803. Second only to the Paris Droguier, it is one of the last living witnesses to the history of European pharmacopoeia. It boasts a unique collection of some 15,000 drug samples, mostly of plant origin.

The Droguier complex was listed as a Historic Monument on November 20, 2009 by the Direction Régionale des Affaires Culturelles du Languedoc-Roussillon.

On December 1, 2021, the Droguier Chair, chaired by the Director of the UFR de Pharmacie, was created within the Fondation de l'Université de Montpellier.
