February, the month of love!

How about sharing a little of your heart by donating blood?

1 hour of your time = 3 lives saved —an event you won't want to miss!

Our goal? To reach 300 donations per day in the Hérault and Gard departments. Together, let’s make this a month of solidarity!

If you have blood type A, AB, B, or O—whether Rh-positive or Rh-negative—the French Blood Establishment is counting on you!

Donating blood means contributing to the healthcare system and helping many patients every year. This can be in cases of cancer, blood disorders, significant bleeding during surgery, or childbirth.

But donating blood is also a really friendly experience, because we’re all in the same frame of mind: united, bound by this desire to help others, to take action, and to contribute to something important.

Together, we have the power to make a difference, so please come out in large numbers.

What You Need to Know Before Donating:

  • to feel healthy;
  • be between the ages of 18 and 70;
  • weigh at least 50 kg;
  • have a photo ID;
  • not have received a blood transfusion;
  • and, on site, be deemed eligible during the pre-donation interview.

Before you go, be sure to takethe online teston the EFS website to find out if you have any potential contraindications.

From the time you arrive until you leave, plan on spending between 45 minutes and 1 hour(don’t worry—the donation itself takes only about 10 minutes on average). Keep in mind that it’s best to eat beforehand and stay well-hydrated throughout the donation.

In the following cases, donations must be postponed for:

  • 24 hours after a cavity treatment or dental cleaning;
  • 7 days after completing a course of antibiotics;
  • 14 days after an infectious episode;
  • 4 months after an endoscopy, a piercing, or a tattoo;
  • 4 months after a trip to a country where malaria is prevalent.

To foster a sense of community, the EFS has created a Facebook group dedicated to blood donors in Montpellier and the Hérault region:Blood Donation Montpellier, Béziers & Co | Facebook
