A look back at the 44th Salon Champignons et Plantes d'Automne: an intergenerational success!
On October 19 and 20, 2024, the Faculty of Pharmacy was delighted to host the 44th edition of the Salon Champignons et Plantes d'Automne, organized by the Société d'Horticulture et d'Histoire Naturelle de l'Hérault. The event attracted a varied, inter-generational audience, bringing together students, families and enthusiasts for two days of exhibitions and conferences.
Visitors were able to explore a collection of 280 species of fresh mushrooms and discover autumn plants and fruits, carefully presented by botanists and mycologists. Workshops on the confusions between edible, toxic and deadly mushrooms were offered. An insect exhibition was also presented by entomologists.
The weekend was punctuated by two conferences:
- "Cordyceps, les champi(gn)ons de la manipulation" by Luis Portillo-Lemus, Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Pharmacy, explored the fascinating interaction between fungi and parasitic insects, captivating an audience of around 100 on Saturday.
- "Pollinators: what future?" by Gérard Duvallet, Professor Emeritus and medical entomologist, closed the event on Sunday in front of an equally large audience, raising topical questions about the future of pollinators and the issues at stake for biodiversity.
The show provided an ideal setting for rich and fascinating exchanges between experts, students and enthusiasts.
