A colleague honored for her research

Caroline DESMETZ, an associate professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical and Biological Sciences, recently receiveda €20,000 research grant from the French Society of Nutrition (SFN)to fund her research project, conducted at the“Biocommunication in Cardiometabolic ” (BC2M, EA7288) located within the faculty. The goal of this project is to understand how toprevent cardiac fibrosis, which is responsible for many heart problems in a condition that is very common in industrialized countries:metabolic syndrome, which currently affects 25 to 45% of men over the age of 40. It is currently very difficult to treat. Prevention is therefore of great interest in this regard.
These grants are intended for researchers under the age of 40. This award will enable him to gain a more precise understanding of the role of a process known as endothelial-mesenchymal transition in cardiac fibrosis, and how it can be prevented through a low-salt diet.
