Year of Research and FST
Graduate students in pharmacy have the option of pursuing a research year or a Cross-Disciplinary Specialized Training Program (FST) to acquire specific skills, conduct research, and enhance their careers.
Year of Research
The research track leads to a Master 2 degree and opens the door to writing a university thesis, thereby providing access to careers in innovation and research.
Beyond research careers, a research year offers the opportunity to gain specialized skills in a hospital or other setting. These additional skills can be valuable assets for your professional career, regardless of its future direction.
The research year is completed at an accredited French research laboratory—as recognized under the five-year agreement between the Ministry of Higher Education and the institutions—or at a foreign laboratory participating in an equivalent program.
This year covers a continuous period from November 1 of the year of the application through October 31 of the following year.
Students may complete a research year after successfully completing two semesters and up to one year after earning their DES.
This year of study may be followed by a specialized interdisciplinary program lasting two or four semesters.
Selection of Candidates
The student applies to a research committee by demonstrating his or her motivation and the consistency of his or her professional background. Following this interview, the applications are ranked.
Cross-Functional Specialized Training (FST)
FST Innovation and Research: Pilot Pascal PHILIBERT
The FST Innovation and Research division covers a wide range of topics related to the biological and pharmaceutical disciplines.
The FST's Objectives
- Promote training in innovation and research professions at universities, university hospitals, hospitals, public-interest scientific and technical establishments (EPSTs), and in the private sector;
- Facilitate access to careers as faculty researchers, university hospital faculty researchers, researchers, and R&D professionals in the healthcare industry;
- To promote translational health research enriched by other disciplinary fields;
- To advance health research in all its dimensions and in collaboration with all partners through cooperation among universities, university hospitals, hospital centers, public health research institutions (EPST), technology platforms, and the healthcare products industry.
The FST program lasts 2 or 4 semesters. You may apply twice; you must confirm your choice by April 30 of the current year at the latest for an FST program starting in November.
Selection of Candidates
In accordance with Article 5 of the decree of October 4, 2019, governing the organization of the long-term postgraduate program in pharmacy, the FST program director organizes the selection of candidates in consultation with the coordinators of the relevant DES programs and the specialty’s coordinating committee. Student candidates participate in an interview to discuss their motivation and receive guidance on selecting theoretical courses and their academic focus.
