National Hearing Day: Audiocampus mobilized for hearing risk prevention
Audiocampus, a research and training center in audiology located on the Faculty of Pharmacy campus, is heavily involved in prevention and awareness campaigns on hearing risks. Audiocampus teachers Jean-Luc Puel and Jean-Charles Ceccato, respectively president and vice president ofthe National Hearing Association (ANA), actively contributed to the 28th National Hearing Day (JNA), held in March.
The theme of this edition was the growing impact of video games on hearing health. A press conference at the Ministry of Health brought together several experts and journalists to discuss the challenges to be addressed and the solutions to be considered. Jean-Charles Ceccato led the round table discussion on the need to raise awareness among young people about hearing risks and promote healthy practices. Sound is crucial to the gaming experience, making prevention difficult. Experts proposed innovative solutions such as serious games to better reach young gamers.
Another event was organized by the ANA at the National Assembly on March 13. Jean-Luc Puel, alongside François Gernigon, Member of Parliament, and Yaël Braun-Pivet, President of the National Assembly, took part in an initiative aimed at raising awareness among MPs about hearing health issues. Several elected officials were able to test their hearing, becoming aware of the high noise levels, including within the Chamber.
During this event, emphasis was placed on the need for better integration of hearing health into public policy. The importance of rethinking the current approach, with greater emphasis on prevention and reducing inequalities in access to care, was highlighted. In response, the government reaffirmed its commitment to prevention and reiterated the measures already in place, including the 100% Healthcare reform.
