National Hearing Day: audiocampus mobilized to prevent hearing risks
Audiocampus, an audiology research and training center on the Faculty of Pharmacy site, is heavily involved in hearing risk prevention and awareness campaigns. Audiocampus teachers Jean-Luc Puel and Jean-Charles Ceccato, respectively president and vice-president of theAssociation Nationale de l'Audition (ANA), actively contributed to the 28ᵉ Journée Nationale de l'Audition (JNA), organized in March.
The theme of this year's event was the growing impact of video games on hearing health. A press conference at the French Ministry of Health brought together a number of experts and journalists to discuss the challenges and solutions. Jean-Charles Ceccato moderated the round table on the need to raise young people's awareness of hearing risks and promote healthy practices. Sound is crucial to the gaming experience, making prevention a delicate matter. Experts proposed innovative solutions such as serious games to better reach young gamers.
Another action was organized by ANA at the French National Assembly on March 13. Jean-Luc Puel, alongside François Gernigon, Member of Parliament, and Yaël Braun-Pivet, President of the Assemblée Nationale, took part in an initiative aimed at raising awareness of hearing health issues among Members of Parliament. A number of elected representatives were able to test their hearing, making them aware of the high noise levels even in the Hemicycle.
At this event, the need for better integration of hearing health into public policy was emphasized. The importance of rethinking the current approach, with greater emphasis on prevention and reducing inequalities in access to care, was underlined. In response, the government reaffirmed its commitment to prevention and recalled the measures already put in place, notably the 100% Health reform.
